Your Expertise is Needed: Protect Your Sector

InfraGard members are invited to participate in a series of Town Hall style meetings to solicit input from Subject Matter Experts (SME) on details of IT Sector-Specific Plans. The Department of Homeland Security will use the resulting proposals as a roadmap to protect critical infrastructure in the United States. The Information Technology (IT) Sector Coordinating Committee (SCC) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will hold the first of these October 16 in Waltham, MA to seek comments from IT SMEs on details of the IT Sector plan.
“The knowledge pooled at these meetings will be used to create plans that protect our infrastructures,” said INMA Board Chair Phyllis Schneck. “The objective of these Town Hall meetings is to ensure that the plan is shared with a wide variety of audiences within the IT Sector and to gain a full spectrum of feedback and expertise from IT Sector partners in local, state and federal government, as well as small, medium and large companies.”
InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA) representatives recently briefed the IT and Telecom SCCs, and both want to use the InfraGard membership and its SMEs to help create their sector specific plans.
This is part of the larger effort in which, as part of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), DHS requested that all 17 critical infrastructure and key resource sectors form Sector Coordinating Councils (SCC). These are tasked with developing and submitting plans to protect each of their sectors.
The Waltham, MA meeting is one of three to four devoted to the IT Sector scheduled nationwide. As part of its participation, INMA will notify its members in IT, Telecom and other sectors as it receives information on future SCC activities.
